Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese ROTY Battle Draws Stunning Prediction From Ex-WNBA Champ
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The upcoming WNBA season is going to be an exciting one since Caitlin Clark is set to make her debut for the Indiana Fever soon. For two-time champion Renee Montgomery, though, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star’s Rookie of the Year battle against Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is going to be interesting.

Back in college, the biggest name in women’s basketball was no other than Clark. During her time playing for Iowa, the point guard established herself as a dominant scorer and an able playmaker for his teammates. Her four-year stint culminated in the Hawkeyes star breaking Pete Maravich’s old record to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.

Unfortunately, Clark didn’t conclude her college stint on a high note after Iowa lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the championship round. The story is different with Reese because the LSU Tigers star won a ring the year before. And even though she was eliminated by Clark in this year’s NCAA tournament, the absence of a title has somewhat marred her legacy in women’s college basketball.

Nevertheless, both stars are about to play their first WNBA game soon. This will mark the start a battle between the two to see who will emerge as this year’s Rookie of the Year.

Former WNBA Champion Renee Montgomery Predicts ROTY Battle Between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese

The ROTY race between these two stars has everyone pumped up for the new WNBA season. Among those who have given their take on the matter is former champion and current Atlanta Dream owner Renee Montgomery, as seen in a video posted by NBA TV.

As it stands, Clark is the better scorer of the two, as seen in how she performed during her four-year stint in Iowa. Reese, on the other hand, is a more physical player who can play great defense on the other end of the court.

It remains to be seen who will emerge as this year’s top rookie in the WNBA. But just like what Montgomery said, the battle between these two is going to be amazing.
