With the 2023 season in the rearview and motivation, the Florida State Seminoles look to begin their 2024 season against a familiar foe on an international stage. While the Seminoles have known they would play in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin for some time, it was announced today that the kickoff time for the contest will be at noon Eastern on August 24th and will air on ESPN. Following the trip internationally, the Seminoles host another Atlantic Coast Conference foe in Boston College.

When the Seminoles take the field against the Yellow Jackets, it will mark the first time they have played an international game in program history. The date of August 24th will also match the earliest start date for the football team tying a 2002 contest that saw the Seminoles take on Iowa State in Kansas City. In that game, the Seminoles came away with a 38-31 win.

With Florida State leading the all-time series 15-11-1, this will be the first contest between the two teams since the Seminoles won 41-16 in 2022. The Seminoles hold a 15-4 advantage since joining the ACC in 1992. The Seminoles are 56-21 all-time in season openers. Following the contest overseas, the Seminoles return home to host another ACC rival in Boston College in prime time at 7:30 pm on September 2 also on ESPN. The contest on Labor Day night will mark the fourth straight stand-alone contest on Labor Day weekend.

For the Seminoles, it will mark the first season since 2003 that they have opened with consecutive ACC opponents when they started with three in a row. Florida State leads the series against Boston College 16-5 and has emerged victorious in 12 of the last 13 matchups.

The Seminoles saw several of their all-time greats depart for the NFL. Coach Norvell and his staff have worked diligently to hit the recruiting trail and attack the transfer portal and bring in quality players that fit the system they are building in Tallahassee. For the Seminoles, they turn to DJ Uiagalelei to lead the offense as he returns to the ACC after spending the 2023 season with the Oregon State Beavers. It is a solid way for the Seminoles to begin the season with quality foes.
